Transforming a New Build in Henley: An Interior Design Journey

Nestled in the charming town of Henley on Thames, a family embarked on a mission to transform their new build home from a blank, characterless canvas into a space brimming with personality and style. Discontented with the ubiquitous “magnolia box” feel, they enlisted the help of skilled interior designer, Francesca from Studio Ember to revitalise three key areas of their home: the living room, the office, and the master bedroom.

The Living Room: A Warm Welcome

The living room makeover marked the beginning of this transformation. The focal point was a bespoke TV stand, meticulously crafted to blend seamlessly with the room’s aesthetic. Warm hues were deliberately chosen to infuse the space with cosiness and comfort. But it was the addition of plants that truly brought the room to life; their vibrant greens contrasting beautifully against the warm backdrop, making the colours pop and adding a refreshing touch of nature.

The Office: A Blend of Functionality and Artistry

For the office, the family desired a space that was not only functional but also uniquely theirs. The result was a blend of practicality and personal expression. A striking wood-panelled wall became the room’s standout feature, exuding a sense of sophistication and warmth. Complementing this were pieces of original artwork, carefully selected to reflect the family’s tastes and to inspire creativity within the space. This combination of natural wood textures and art created an environment both conducive to work and pleasing to the senses.

The Master Bedroom: A Touch of Luxury

The master bedroom’s transformation aimed to replicate the luxurious feel of a high-end hotel room. Every element was chosen with comfort and elegance in mind. Plush bedding, soft lighting, and a harmonious color palette combined to create a sanctuary-like atmosphere. The room became a tranquil retreat for the homeowners, offering a daily experience of relaxation and luxury, akin to that of a boutique hotel.

It was an absolute pleasure to photograph this transformation for Studio Ember. If you are an interior designer and would like to have your recent projects photographed for your portfolio, please get in touch.
